Taken Saturday for Sunday. I have a scattered day tomorrow, so I didn’t know if I’d be on. This is for Self-Portrait Sunday on DigiCass.com. Join in the fun! Tomorrow, post your picture, then comment at DigiCas.com!

Hating that my bangs were all funny, but it’s okay. There are worse things in life. ;)

Self Portrait Sunday: Tired Feet

My feet carried me up and down stairs multiple times as I loaded the car on Saturday after my vacation was over. They helped me stay steady on sand, while walking on the beach. They carry me when I walk for exercise, and steady me when I don’t want to stand but have to. I love a good pedicure!

This is part of Self Portrait Sunday, which you can play along with over at DigiCass.com.

Self Portrait Sunday: Playful

Here’s my snapshot for Self-Portrait Sunday. I confess, it’s actually 11pm Saturday night, but I have a full day tomorrow, and wanted to make sure I had it up! Cass over at DigiCass.com hosts a Self-Portrait Sunday…I’m feeling playful and silly and was playing with the camera for this shot.

If you’d like to play along, snap a picture of yourself and post it to your blog on Sunday. Then go to DigiCass.com, and comment on the Self-Portrait Sunday post with your link…then go around and visit others! I love this photo meme, because it has finally helped me stop being so self-critical about pictures. I’m used to seeing myself now, and I don’t hate it as much. I used to loathe pictures of me, but doing this weekly has really been good for me. :)

Thoughts on Sugar

May 19, 2007 on 2:16 pm | In Life and Leisure, Self Portrait Sunday, Family | No Comments

It’s funny, because I’ve done things like Atkins on more than one occassion. Due to a medication that makes my blood sugar climb that I have to take for 2 weeks, I’ve been instructed to cut way back on my carbs. Within 2 days, my skin looks radiant. Nobody outright says, carbs will give you issues, because it’s not what you’re taught in skin care school. Outright, every single time I limit my carbs, within days, my skin looks so much better. It shouldn’t come as a surprise because I’ve done low carb many times before, but it does. Each and every time I do this, I realize how much better my skin looks, even when I forget it will look better.

I’m not telling you that your skin will suddenly be radiant with limited carbs, this is me saying that MY SKIN is reacting well to the change. Of course, because I’m on it due to meds, I’m happy the poison ivy is healing so quickly now as well, and because of limiting my carbs, my blood sugars are in check.

One of the things with Diabetes and blood sugar, is you’ll see a higher number than usual, and though you may feel fine, it’s doing things inside your body you may not feel or notice. It’s silent like that, and that can be scary stuff! This time we were prepared knowing my previous reaction with this particular medication. Upon taking it, it tends to send my numbers 30 points higher, just being on it. We’ve predicted this may happen and taken a path to reduce that, and guess what, my numbers are looking pretty good! (not just my skin!)

Self Portrait Sunday: Mother’s Day

A girl and her Diet Coke…wearing my red INSPI(RED) shirt, with a patch on my shoulder. It’s all wrinkled because I tried to put it on myself. When hubby puts it on, it’s all smooth! I have an on and off shoulder issue. Life goes on…I acquired it in massage school one night, and it just never went away. I was lifting somebody’s leg, and in that one moment, I was left with a chronic shoulder issue. Go figure…A little pink from being outside earlier today. I don’t tan very well. I can sunblock, I turn pink or red, then it fades…my sister on the other hand gets tropical tan.

Anyway…happy Sunday and happy Mother’s Day. This mom has two teenagers, officially, as my baby turned 13 last week. If you’d like to play along for Self Portrait Sunday, join us and leave a comment over at DigiCass in her “Self Portrait Sunday” post.

Self Portrait Sunday: Smiling

I got a little sunburn on my chest on Monday. I put sunblock everywhere, and in all my brilliance, I forgot my chest!

Taking these pictures on Sundays, they are rarely one that I like a lot. This one represents me better, I think. Sometimes my character doesn’t come through, and they seem flat. I’m a very bubbly, silly fun girl who loves to laugh and smile. Usually I hate my smile in pictures, but I’m liking this one today. Not too shabby for turning 40 in June! ;)

I snapped this last night, for Self-Portrait Sunday, since I remembered. I took it while I remembered.  If you’d like to participate in Self Portrait Sunday, then check out DigiCass. Take your picture, and leave your permalink in the Self Portrait Sunday posting comments, so everyone can visit you!

Self Portrait Sunday: Easter

April 8, 2007 on 4:45 pm | In Life and Leisure, Self Portrait Sunday | 6 Comments

easter3.JPG

This was taken for Self Portrait Sunday at DigiCass, a digital meme. It’s Easter Sunday, and we’ll be heading out around 2pm, so I wanted to get this up before I forget, like last week. :\

Here’s what I see when I look at this picture:

  • I always think, wow, my hair is getting longer, then I see it in a picture, and I go, wow my hair is short!
  • It startles me to see my eyes blue in pictures STILL. After 39+ years of red eye in pictures, when they come out actually blue, it throws me. I’m starting to get used to it from doing the Self Portrait Sunday series.
  • No matter how much I don’t notice the red from my Rosacea, it still always stands out to me in pictures.
  • I wish I was thinner, but I can look at my picture and not cringe anymore. Self Portrait Cass has helped me with that process. Seeing myself in pictures has always been hard for me, but the regular process helps me get over my disdain of seeing myself.
  • This is what 39 looks like for a few more months. I turn 40 in June. I wonder what I would have looked like at 40 back in the 1800’s.
  • I wonder who else will remember today is Self Portrait Sunday!

Self-Portrait Sunday: A Handy Edition

HANDS1.JPG

I painted my nails this morning. They were a taupe-beige last week, so I went red with a sparkle this week. My hands aren’t model gorgeous, but I love them. My fingers are pudgy, but they suit me just fine. My hands are what allow me to write on a regular basis. They move quickly when I want to type, and they work well even when I’m tired. Even when I’m ready for bed and my eyes want to close, my hands are trained to keep typing away until I walk away from the keyboard.

I appreciate my hands…they help me do so many things through out the day like holding my toothbrush so I can brush my teeth, holding the hair dryer so I can dry my hair, washing my body in the shower, and helping me hold my fork so I can eat. :) They may not be pretty, but they’re all mine!

If you’d like to participate in Self-Portrait Sunday, head on over to DigiCass and join in. Just leave a comment in today’s Self-Portrait Sunday section with a link back to your self-portrait, and be sure to drop a line here and say hello and that you visited!
