Vacation Time

June 23, 2007 on 1:41 am | In Life and Leisure, Family | No Comments

Okay, I’ll be signing off this blog for now. I’ll be on vacation until next Saturday. I’ll catch up with everyone when I get back. If you’re wondering why it’s going to be quiet, now you know. Fun in the sun for this New Jersey girl!

Great Swing!

It’s on! Every time we go to the shore, my husband and I get very competitive when it comes to golf. Guess who has the lead and edge at this point. That’s right, yours truly is a golf master! I beat him by 16 strokes last time we played. Impressed, I knew you might be. Oh wait, did I forget to mention it’s miniature golf I am the master of? You didn’t think regular golf did you? I don’t own any Ping golf equipment, but who knows in the future. With the genius miniature golf girl in your presence, I may be ready to take on regular golf soon. Maybe I should move on to Chip and Putt next. My brother-in-law is a golf fan, and plays whenever he gets the chance. He can remain the champ golfer in our family for now, and I’ll just hold onto the miniature golf champ title for now.

Yes, Here I Sit

Hubby is finished his packing. He’s going to be there with us for 4 of the 7 days. I’m still sitting here, with clothes to fold, things to do, and well….stuff to pack. Okay, I’ll confess…my feet hurt. Yes, yes, I’ve been walking, and it turns out I’m a supinator. My feet lean to the outside when I walk. I walk with my feet arched out, and lean on the sides…

I switched shoes today, and felt much better, but I have a few days of ouch to get through. I’m fine when I’m sitting, but when I stand up, ouch! I tucked my other shoes away, so I don’t grab them out of habit, and now have better support that cause me to walk with a more natural “neutral” gait. Are you a supinator, pronator or a neutral gait walker or runner?

Are You Networked?

June 23, 2007 on 1:27 am | In Life and Leisure | No Comments

We’re not wireless here. I don’t have WiFi going on, but I’d like to for my laptop. Hubby says it’s not going to happen, he’d rather keep it wired for security. I understand his reasoning, and seeing as he’s the one who knows how to do the networking with network cables, he gets to decide! Ironically, I used to work for the cable company for many years, so I’ll bet I could call one of the guys and ask them to do me a favor and set me up wireless, but I wouldn’t do that to hubby. I didn’t say I wouldn’t tease him though!

If you do networking and wiring yourself, check out CableMegaStore.com for all your networking cable needs!

Dogs Kenneled, Cat Happy!

June 23, 2007 on 1:22 am | In Life and Leisure, Family | No Comments

The cat is strutting around here like a king. The dogs were kenneled, and though they are buddies most the time, there are still plenty of times Grace gives Sibs a chase. (Sibs, short for Sebastian)

The funny thing is, he’ll go looking around, because he knows something is different. I think he almost misses the company, even if it gets a little rowdy at times when Grace gets spunky with him.  The pussycat is looking for extra attention, since he knows he doesn’t have petting competition now!

Where Are My Pens?

June 23, 2007 on 1:19 am | In Life and Leisure | No Comments

I know there has to be a pen fairy around this house. It’s impossible to imagine how packs of pens can just get up and walk away. I bought not 1 back-up pack of pens, not 2, but 3 back-up packs of pens, and I’m lucky if I can find one, when I misplace the current one I’m using. How is that possible? I need to buy a case of cheap pens and just put a handful in every spot I have extra room! I hate looking for a pen, especially when I know I have them around here somewhere. Now if I could only find them. I’ll find them, after I buy another back-up package of them! Next time, I’m going to PensRUs.com and ordering a boatload of them!

Haircut Week! Wow!

June 23, 2007 on 1:14 am | In Life and Leisure | No Comments

I got a quick trim, nothing much….and it turns out 3 of my friends also got their hair cut! One of the girls cut 13 inches off of her hair! Another cut her hair to her shoulders, and yet another got her hair shaped. If you’re a girl, you understand that.

It’s fun to see when people make changes. All the pictures were up, and it was so cool to share the changes and experience with them, even though we’re all in different states! I love the internet.

Things Change

June 23, 2007 on 1:11 am | In Life and Leisure | No Comments

What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a vet, but then found out I wasn’t very good with science. It turned out I just wasn’t interested in learning science until I got older. I enjoyed it when I went back to school as an adult. Anyway, what amazes me is the kind of jobs that exist that I didn’t ever think about. I just didn’t know some of these things existed. I hear people today talking about being marine biologists, video game programmers and other jobs. When I was growing up, most of the things I thought of were doctors, lawyers and trade jobs. My dad’s friends were electrician, plumbers, auto mechanics and more. They were doing things like power supply repair, putting lines in, and fixing cars, and even today some of that is totally different; look at computers in cars. There’s a company called ACS Industrial, and they even do things like high voltage power supply repair. Those are jobs that you need a trained professional to do!

What do you want to do when you grow up? I’m 40 now, and I’m still not sure what I want to do. I keep changing my mind! My son wants to create video games. They didn’t even have those kinds of jobs when I was growing up, did they? Maybe they did, I just wasn’t aware of cool choices like that!

Cleaning Out the Car

June 23, 2007 on 1:01 am | In Life and Leisure, Family | No Comments

I have this mild obsession, okay, well it depends who you ask, maybe it’s not mild. I always get a Diet Coke from McDonalds…and while cleaning my car out today, I laughed because the trash I had to throw away was not bags and containers, it was tons and tons of straw wrappers! LOL I didn’t realize how many were back there. I pop the paper off, and toss it over my shoulder onto the floor in the backseat. I had a plethora of straw wrappers back there! Way too many….maybe it’s not a mild obsession after all!
