Thoughts on Sugar
It’s funny, because I’ve done things like Atkins on more than one occassion. Due to a medication that makes my blood sugar climb that I have to take for 2 weeks, I’ve been instructed to cut way back on my carbs. Within 2 days, my skin looks radiant. Nobody outright says, carbs will give you issues, because it’s not what you’re taught in skin care school. Outright, every single time I limit my carbs, within days, my skin looks so much better. It shouldn’t come as a surprise because I’ve done low carb many times before, but it does. Each and every time I do this, I realize how much better my skin looks, even when I forget it will look better.
I’m not telling you that your skin will suddenly be radiant with limited carbs, this is me saying that MY SKIN is reacting well to the change. Of course, because I’m on it due to meds, I’m happy the poison ivy is healing so quickly now as well, and because of limiting my carbs, my blood sugars are in check.
One of the things with Diabetes and blood sugar, is you’ll see a higher number than usual, and though you may feel fine, it’s doing things inside your body you may not feel or notice. It’s silent like that, and that can be scary stuff! This time we were prepared knowing my previous reaction with this particular medication. Upon taking it, it tends to send my numbers 30 points higher, just being on it. We’ve predicted this may happen and taken a path to reduce that, and guess what, my numbers are looking pretty good! (not just my skin!)
