Water Filter Use
March 31, 2007 on 1:43 am | In Life and Leisure | 1 CommentA couple days ago I was talking about those Portable Water Filters, and while I was out today, it hit me how great they would be while on vacation. Take a place like Disney, where they charge an arm and a leg for beverages, including water. You can save money by filling up at the water fountain, and have your own personal filter on your bottle! You fill up without the extra cost of buying drinks for everyone, and if you get one for each member of your family, think about the combined cost cutting you’ll have! Everyone will have fresh water in their own bottle, and you’ll know that the water they’re drinking is safe because it’s being filtered!

Bathroom Revisited
March 27, 2007 on 10:13 pm | In Life and Leisure | No CommentsWe are looking at redoing our master bathroom, and updating it a little bit. We don’t want it to be a huge investment, but a few extra touch-ups would be nice. We may re glaze the tiles in the shower, update the vanity and change the light fixtures. That way it has a fresher appearance without becoming a huge project that gets over the top costly. I was over at Farreys.com and they have everything from ambiance lighting to fine art lighting! A big trend I’m seeing on HGTV a lot is people adding in chandeliers or exquisite lighting in the bathroom!
You can shop by fixture or brand, so that makes it easier to sort through and find what you’re looking for. My favorite part is being able to search by price, so I can find something in my budget range, rather than falling in love with something only to find it’s not in my price budgeted. I found a few that caught my eye, but I’ll have to show them to the husband, and get his thoughts on the light fixtures.
Self-Portrait Sunday: A Handy Edition
March 26, 2007 on 2:46 am | In Life and Leisure, Self Portrait Sunday | 4 Comments
I painted my nails this morning. They were a taupe-beige last week, so I went red with a sparkle this week. My hands aren’t model gorgeous, but I love them. My fingers are pudgy, but they suit me just fine. My hands are what allow me to write on a regular basis. They move quickly when I want to type, and they work well even when I’m tired. Even when I’m ready for bed and my eyes want to close, my hands are trained to keep typing away until I walk away from the keyboard.
I appreciate my hands…they help me do so many things through out the day like holding my toothbrush so I can brush my teeth, holding the hair dryer so I can dry my hair, washing my body in the shower, and helping me hold my fork so I can eat.
They may not be pretty, but they’re all mine!
If you’d like to participate in Self-Portrait Sunday, head on over to DigiCass and join in. Just leave a comment in today’s Self-Portrait Sunday section with a link back to your self-portrait, and be sure to drop a line here and say hello and that you visited!

How can I not be attracted to a beautiful and bold yellow and orange theme on a blog. I love those colors, in fact they are my favorites! Work at Home Musings is a great blog for you to check out, especially if you are like me and work from home most the time. She has a vast array of topics, but my favorites are Home Businesses and Business Basics, since I’m always looking to see what’s out there and gain new ideas.
If you’re interested, you can become involved in the Question of the Week. The idea is simple, each Monday a question will be asked of home employed bloggers, and you can participate by answering. On Friday, Work at Home Musings does a review of the people’s answers. Check out Work at Home Musings today!
If you’re interested in participating in Supahstar Saturday, check out Geeky Speaky for all the details.
Updating a Computer
March 24, 2007 on 10:34 pm | In Life and Leisure | No CommentsI think we have to get more computer memory for my son’s computer. All his gaming is gobbling up space like crazy. It amazes me how much each patch takes up alone. He loves all the elaborate games with 3D graphics and the sort. The problem is, he’s on my older computer that we updated a little for him. When I got my new computer, I moved my old one right next to me on another desk, and now we are side by side on the computers. He plays his game, I write, and everyone has their own area. It works well for us, but I think we’re going to have to add some more so it can keep up with all the changes and upgrades these games have.
Rare Owl, You Have to See
March 24, 2007 on 10:29 pm | In Life and Leisure | No Comments“An extremely rare species of tiny owl has been seen in the wild for the first time, the American Bird Conservancy said Thursday.”
You have to check out the picture! It’s tiny and adorable!
Sickness is All Around
March 24, 2007 on 10:27 pm | In Life and Leisure | No Comments“A 20-year-old man received probation after he was convicted of having sexual contact with a dead deer.”
I kid you not, how nasty is that? They guy will be evaluated and marked as a sex offender. Yahoo! has the full story if you care to read more. Man, you’re scanning headlines catching up on the news, and you don’t expect to read something like that.
No wait…there’s more:
“He was found guilty in April 2005 of felony mistreatment of an animal after he killed a horse with the intention of having sex with it.”
This guy is seriously one sick man. Sad, sad world.
Keep it Handy!
March 24, 2007 on 10:23 pm | In Life and Leisure | No CommentsI was over at the spa earlier in the week, and they have these personalized organizers and promo pens they are giving their clients. I love that I can toss it in my purse and have their number handy. Of course, I know the number well, since I fill-in and work there sometimes! Sometimes what I like to do is leave my business card with a discount with a tip at a restaurant. I can leave the pen with a tip as well now! What a great way to quietly advertise, but pass the number on to someone else!
Milkweed Butterfly Migration
March 24, 2007 on 10:19 pm | In Life and Leisure | No Comments“Taiwan will cordon off part of a highway to create a safe passage for a massive seasonal butterfly migration in the coming days”
Quoted from Yahoo!
How cool is that- they are actually creating a safe way for the butterflies to cross the highway. I love that concept! Yes, I know I didn’t blockquote it…it will be all right! I’m a rebel.
The milkweed butterfly migrates in late March and they are going to be prepared. While reading the article, it stated they have over 2 million milkweed butterflies! WOW
